I have been thinking about how to construct my version of the Bristol Bridge Riot in 1793. I like to keep figures visible and detailed, so I knew that I would have to make a choice between fitting in the whole bridge (the biggest structure that I will have drawn so far) with small figures or part of the bridge and larger more detailed figures.
I found a 1793 drawing of the Bristol Bridge, which is incredible, considering that is the actual year of the riot that I want to draw. I used this image to provide me with my structure and I found another docks illustration as a background to the Bridge, to echo the curve in the river around Castle Park. This other image is an 1850 picture of Bristol docks.
